Food and Housing Insecurity

OSA is partnering with Partners for a Hunger Free Oregon to pass HB 2835, which addresses the student food and housing insecurity crisis by creating funding for full time, dedicated positions to help students at each public college campus navigate SNAP and other basic needs resources.

Financial Aid Investment

3 in 4 students who qualifies for the Oregon Opportunity Grant doesn’t receive it due to severe underfunding. We are asking the legislature to make an investment of $290 Million for the Oregon Opportunity Grant this biennium a top budget priority.

Textbook Affordability

We are working to pass HB 2919 to guarantee students have the right to know the total cost of required course materials before they register for classes.

Cultural Competency in Higher Education

We are working to make sure campuses meet the needs of all students in Oregon. We are working on implementation of our  2017 legislative victory, HB 2864, to ensure cultural competency standards for our colleges and universities. We are also working to pass HB 2590, the Student Voice Bill to ensure legislators take a serious look at affordability, equity, and access in our public postsecondary institutions. We will also be launching a podcast soon!

Support for DACA Students

With recent attacks from the federal government on DACAmented students, OSA is working to ensure enough institutional and state-level support exists for our DACA students. Email Gaby [at] to learn how to get involved.

CTE Reform
